Full Post

Good Afternoon residents of the Town of Lapel, the following important news has been released with regards emergency system tests during the day tomorrow.

Good Morning Madison County,

Governor Mike Braun has proclaimed March 9-15, 2025 to be Severe Weather Preparedness Week in the state of Indiana.

The Madison County Emergency Management Agency / Department of Homeland Security in conjunction with the National Weather Service, the Indiana State Police, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana Broadcasters Association, and Madison County Amateur Radio Operators will conduct a countywide and statewide test of communication systems as well as the Madison County EMA Outdoor Warning Alert Sirens tomorrow Tuesday, March 11 at 10:15 AM EDT/9:15 AM CDT

Madsion County EMA will conduct a drill/exercise at our EOC to test our readiness and ability to call and conduct a severe weather warning operations.

As part of Madison County EMA’s efforts to build a Weather Ready Nation, the goal of Severe Weather Preparedness Week is to better educate our citizens about the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, and to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs.

We remind everyone to know the difference between a watch and a warning, and the definitions of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, Tornado Warnings, and Flash Flood Warnings!

Tomorrow when the outdoor warning sirens sound is the time to practice your severe weather plans. The forecast is calling for  beautiful weather tomorrow but should this change we will not activate the sirens.
